A moderate to fresh southerly airflow covered Ireland, generated by a ridge of high pressure to the east, extending from an anticyclone of 1027 hPa near the Azores, and a depression of 990 hPa, centred to the southeast of Greenland. The day was dull and misty with scattered outbreaks of rain. More persistent rain then spread from the west across the country during the late afternoon and evening. The night was wet with widespread rain.
