A depression of 993 hPa, centred south of Iceland, generated a fresh to strong southerly airflow over Ireland. The associated front tracked across Ireland throughout the day. Dry conditions prevailed for the first hours of the day, apart from patchy drizzle in the Northwest and Southeast, along with some mist patches. Showery rain spread eastward across the country throughout the morning and the afternoon, followed by sunny spells and scattered showers. Overnight, heavier rain developed in western and northern regions, extending eastward with locally intense rain in some areas.
